Habitat Skateboards was created in November 1999 and made its debut appearance as a section within the infamous Alien Workshop video, Photosynthesis. It featured a heavy Philadelphia and Love Park vibe that was a global skate mecca at the time. Skaters, Kerry Getz, Rob Pluhowski, Mark Appleyard, Fred Gall, Tim O'Connor, Danny Garcia and Brian Wenning rounded out the team. Brian Wenning went on to launch his skate career after his stand out part, skating classically to Mr. Dibs.
Habitat was graphically amazing and certainly on par with sister brand Alien Workshop in portraying the feel of the team and company through audio-visual communication. Coming in 2003 was their defining video Mosaic, created by visual genius Joe Castrucci, who ran Habitat. The video closed with an epic part from Stefan Janoski, who had recently joined coming over from Exhibition One.
Habitat went on to produce Inhabitants in 2007, adding Silas Baxter Neal and Austyn Gillette to the team. Mark Suciu joined in time for 2010's Origin and is still part of the team today along with Silas Baxter Neal, Bobby de Keyzer, Brian Delatorre, Marius Syvanen, and Stefan Janoski of Nike SB.
Recent artistic collaborations include Habitat decks with Twin Peaks, Leon Karssen, Pink Floyd and Emmy Award-winning American animated sitcom Bob's Burgers.
